To let everyone know a little bit about myself, I am a 21-year-old college bookworm. I think that sums me up pretty well. I'm majoring in Wildlife Conservation because next to books, animals (especially wildlife) are my biggest passion.I still live at home with my parents, and they always tell me that for as long as they can remember, I've always had my nose in a book. I developed the skill of reading and walking at a young age, so I tend not to go anywhere without a book.
It's honestly difficult for me to narrow down and pick a favorite author or a favorite book. I'm big (HUGE) on Stephen King, but I don't read just horror. I love love LOVE Harry Potter and I'm generally a geek for fantasies. I love being transported through time with a historical fiction, but I also love being transported back to my childhood with some of my favorite childhood reads. In recent years, I've become better able to read classics and I eat them up in my spare time.
Unfortunately, during the school year, I don't get to read quite as much as I want to. BUT this year is my senior year, so pretty soon, I'll be able to keep up a regular reading habit because even though I'll have to get Job in the Real World, unlike homework, I don't have to take a job home with me at the end of the day.
A little more about me...I'm a bit of a book hoarder. I have a big ole five-shelf bookshelf that is cram-packed with books...to the point where there are now two ever-growing piles on the floor next to it. My goal is to tackle my bookshelf because most of my books remain unread...SO I'm taking it upon myself to read more of my own books and buy less and take out from the library less. However, there is a teeny exception. My TBR list on Goodreads is also HUGE, so I'm tackling it, only one book at a time out of the library.
I buy most of my books second-hand from places like Salvation Army. There is one used book store in my town, but after going there once, I have refused to ever support her business again (this is a rant for another day). I have a weakness for Barnes & Noble. I love the smell. The atmosphere. And all of the shiny books that I take hours to swoon over.
I have a weird thing about the condition of books. I love worn copies and I love brand-spanking-new copies. But I HATE the middle process! Like I said, I'm working on going through my bookshelf and getting rid of books I'm just iffy about. I have new criteria--the only books I'll keep are those that wow me in some way and those that I know I'll re-read.
Well, that's about all of the bookish things about me that I can think of. However, if you do have any questions, feel free to contact me. My email address is countrygirl922@verizon.net. Just do me the favor and let me know you're a visitor from my blog.
Thank you and have a great day! :)
